Training
No other organization serves the training needs of the
piping industry like the United Association. For over
a century, the UA Has been training the most
highly-qualified workers in Pennsylvania, the United States
and Canada.
Over the past several decades, the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local
520's training
programs have produced a stable, skilled workforce
responsible for building and maintaining piping systems in
the various industrial, commercial and residential
facilities that make up the Capital Region.
No one can match our commitment or investment to training.
The UA International spends over $100 million
annually on training programs involving over 250,000
journeymen and apprentices in over 400 local training
facilities at any given time.
If the United Association International wanted to select the
area which best reflects this commitment to the training and
excellence, it would look to Central Pennsylvania and the
partnership that exists between the MCA of Central
Pennsylvania and Local 520 . Our
partnership produces excellence in the Plumbing and
Pipefitting Industry.
If you were to stop by the training facility at UA Local 520,
you would always find it filled with
apprentices in our 5-Year Apprentice Program as we train the
next generation.
Apprenticeship in the pipe trades is a highly selective
program. Each apprentice has been carefully screened.
No one with drug or alcohol problems can qualify, and
acceptance for training depends on the applicants
qualifications and the manpower needs of the trade at the
time of the selection process. The bottom line is that
we ONLY select the most qualified candidates. The
intensive technical training program consists of at least
8,500 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and
over 1,000 hours of related classroom training.
As you can see, the MCA of Central Pennsylvania contractors boast the most trained,
safe, drug-free workforce in Central Pennsylvania. If
you're interested in becoming a member of the association
and would like to tour the training facility, contact us and
we'll arrange for you to see
it first hand.
